Although laminate flooring looks like hardwood, when it comes to repairing scratches and dent removal it's a different beast. Unlike with hardwood floors, you can't sand or buff scratches out of laminate, because only the top layer of the flooring is coloured and usually paper thin.

Your laminated floor's surface covers a core of particle board, and sanding out the scratch would only remove more of the surface and display more of the particle board beneath.
